Dear Prospective Buyer of our House:
It is bittersweet to write this note to you. It requires us think about how many things we love and will miss about our home.
Some of those things will likely be obvious to you at a glance – the spectacular views, day and night; the wonderful outdoor spaces on both sides of the house, covered and uncovered, that provide a perfect place to retreat whatever time of day; the easy proximity to three different restaurant areas and the wonderful Leschi market. But we thought we would share a few of the things we have loved that you might not otherwise appreciate.
First and foremost is our collection of neighbors. This is a neighborhood in the truest sense of the word, something we haven’t found before in other places we have lived in Seattle. From the block parties and the annual neighborhood tree decorating event where we all come out and decorate the trees in the median with lights and quirky items, to the way everyone looks out for one another. It feels so safe – kids riding their bikes in the street, all of us coordinating our various Seafair events (get ready for one of the best views of the Blue Angels anywhere). On a more mundane note, please be reassured that parking is easy. Everyone parks only in front of their houses so we always have tons of space right in front, and the opposite side of the street has open parking as well, if you ever need more than three spots (neighbors on that side of the street park their cars in the alley).
Frink park is beloved by all of us and you will find it peaceful to meander through its leafy trails. And the nearest restaurants have a close-knit neighborhood vibe, particularly That’s Amore and Heyday just up the street, and Meet the Moon by the lake, though you should also not miss our favorites on Jackson -- Reckless for yummy Asian fusion, Central Pizza (try the one with potato – sounds weird but its really good!), and the Hole in the Wall bar-b-cue joint.
We will miss playing yard games with the kids and having family movie night in the home theater; sitting out on the deck in the evenings watching the sky change color and the lights of Bellevue emerge; and hanging out in the evenings playing music from our phones through the whole house audio system.
We know you are going to love this house as much as we have.
Sincerely, Frank and Amy Taylor
