Buying a home is an expression of hopes and dreams. People who decide to purchase are spending their money, but investing in their lives. My job as a real estate agent is to help people realize their goals, for: home, place, interests, and people. The process looks something like this:

  1. Understanding your priorities.What do you want? What do you need? How do you want to live? Is buying right for you? Clarity around these issues is key.
  2. Money Ball. How much do you want to spend? Do you need help selecting a mortgage broker? Buying a home is a better experience when the buyer understands the financial dimensions–downpayment, closing costs, earnest money, etc.
  3. Finding a home. Finding the right neighborhood pocket, with the right home features, happens through web searches and property tours so that you are educated enough–about the market for what you’re looking for–to feel confident about making an offer.
  4. Preparing an offer. Once educated about about the market and home values, it’s time to make an offer. While we can gauge the home’s approximate value and establish price, we should be clear on how much you love it. (Or, how crushed would you be not to get it.) From there we structure an offer that will get you the home.
  5. Executing the deal. Once the offer is accepted, we work with the seller’s team (and our team) on a range of issues: closing date, closing costs, inspection, appraisal, escrow, title, etc. Many deals go sideways during this phase, so attention to detail is critical.
  6. After the sale. Once you have moved in (sometimes quickly, sometimes years later) you may consider remodelling, refinancing, or confronting maintenance issues. I can help with any questions about your home. My goal is to be your agent for life, not simply when you are buying or selling. Seriously, I can help.
